Music is a culture

because it is a fluid community. People change, and so does their music, and musical tastes. Groups of people in the thousands come together to see one performer, or one group perform simply because their music does something to them, and makes them feel a certain way.

My photographic eye...

i LOVE photography so i was excited to see this blog topic!!!

(the embed tool wouldn't work for some reason so here is a direct link to the slideshow of my photography)

My favorite artist...

my favorite artist is by far Jay Brannan. He's an amazing singer, and his way of expression cannot be matched. He is totally unafraid of being one hundred percent honest about how he feels about topics, or situations. He's an amazing voice for the gay community. Positive outlook on life, but very realistic outlook on life at the same time.

Poetry Slam

i LOVE poetry slams. i think it takes an extremely talented actor to carry out a poetry slam properly.

Artists in Society

Wow. The number of artists in society is crazy. I consider hair stylists, interior designers, interior decorators, carpenters, architects, and so on forms of artists. All of those require some sort of creative mind, and creative ideas.

Art and Film

I think film is most certainly a version of art. It expresses feelings, emotions, and views. Some movies are even based off of artists, and artwork. Books explain a persons look, and movies artistically humanize it. I love the use of art in movies.

interview with an artist

My best friend Melody Skinner is a folk artist. meaning she takes things from around the house, or antique things and paints on them using parts of the materials...

Me: How important is art to you?
Melody: It's the only way to permantly express myself. Words fade away, art doesn't. So its extremely important.

Me: How important is color to you?
Melody: I love color. Color can show emotions, feelings with an intensity words cannot.

Me: What got you started painting?
Melody: I really cannot remember. I just remember always loving it.

Me: Have you ever considered selling your work?
Melody: It would be nice to get money for doing something i absolutely love, but thats not why i do it.

I know what art is...

to me, art is any form of expression. Whether it be graffiti, paiting, photography, singing, or dancing. Art is one of the best forms of free speech. When a true artist works there are no bounds, or limitations on what they can achieve with the art they are producing. I love it, and love excerizing it.

Human Nature

human nature is just about the way you were born...the one that that is not going to change with culture, or surroundings...

Human Psyche

Human Psyche is basically the idea of mind over matter...

Human Condition

why am i this way?? is the question that is represented by Human Condition.
i think being the only like yourself in a group of people who are the same brings abotu the question of "why am i like this?"

Human Behavior

Human nature is influenced by culture...religion is part of that.

Art Education in Schools

I believe having art in schools is one of the most important things possible for young minds. Having to use both your right and left brain can only make your total mind stronger. Not only does art education open up doors to careers in things other than left brain areas, it also creates camaraderie with the people in your art education classes.

Fashion as art

I believe one of the most fashion forward people of our time right now is definitely Lady Gaga. Every outfit she wears she makes into an art piece:

This film is a work of art...

I believe that "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is an absolute work of art. The color and the music makes every shot in this movie "frameable". Even the fight scenes are artistic...almost like a dance.

Human Struggle

This is Michael Jackson's "They Don't Really Care About Us" i think its a great show of Human Struggle...

Dance

Bollywood dance sequences are by far my favorite type of huge group dance sequences. The colors, the lip syncing, and the over all emotion of it all is just amazing.

I am having a catharsis...

So, so many times we as young people are told that we cannot do something, be something, and achieve something. It becomes a bit overbearing and hard to take. We want to make our parents proud, but at the same time make ourselves happy. I was painting the other night and this came to me. I love the song Imagine by John Lennon. It was definitely the inspiration for this catharsis, and painting.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (cultural event)

Wow. Is all i can really say about this film. It is definitely out there, and unique ha. There really isn't much to say about it other than i absolutely loved it. I watched it twice.
One thing i CAN say is that in the beginning i love how they remake the American Gothic picture into real people singing along with the cast. The movie was weird, but absolutely great. Thank you for allowing it to be a cultural event. I liked how the movie was a musical, but they were also like talking in lyrical form.

Leonardo Da Vinci

So, i went to the High Museum and did the High project. While i was there, though i saw ads for this new big event coming. It turned out to be the Da Vinci exhibit. So, i went back to it for a cultural event (with your permission). We had talked about his works, and his habits in class so seeing them in person was such a lesson. His scribbles, his drawings, and the fact that he did all of his notes backwards to help make sure noone would copy or steal his ideas. The exhibit was so fascinating to me because i'd only see his finished products before this exhibit. Seeing it in person brought it to a reality.

Jay Brannan concert (cultural event)

Photobucket

I have been a fan of Jay Brannan since i was in 12th grade. I found him on YouTube. His songs relate to my life 100% just about everyone do them anyway. I have wanted to see him live since 2006. His song on my iPod could hit me emotionally if i was having a day where certain songs could pull heartstrings, but seeing him live was a completely different experience. He sings on stage with just him and a guitar, and sometimes acapella. Hearing a group of about 75 people singing along with all of his songs behind me watching him was amazing. CDs, YouTube clips, and iPods cannot match what its like to see someone live..

These music videos are artistic as all get out!

"Womanizer" in LA Hands

Sliimy | MySpace Video

the singer took pictures of people holding different pictures of him dancing and edited it so where it would flow like he was dancing in his hands...i think its AWESOME.

Paint Your face-Sliimy

this one i love due to the patterns, and the random uses of color!
